Biography

Inez Louis, BSN, RN

Inez Louis (nee Point) is a Registered Nurse from the Skowkale First Nation, Stó:lō Nation, Sólh Téméxw. She began her health career after graduating from the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia in 2006.

In various work opportunities, Inez has worked as a community health and homecare nurse, nursing supervisor, strategic operations planner and health director in the Stó:lō Community. With a unique blend of nursing and music, she has leveraged her travel opportunities to gain a deeper understanding of healthcare in rural and remote communities across Canada. While sharing her music and nursing knowledge, she worked to promote health education and advocate for careers in Indigenous healthcare.

Inez is a wife, mother of 3 children and dog mom to Albert the dachshund. She is an active paddler, lady skipper, and supportive coordinator of the Vikki-Lynn Canoe Club. This team practices a traditional sport handed down through generations in her family. In cedar canoes carved from old-growth trees, her team travels to villages across Coast Salish communities to carry the paddling sport forward for the healing and wellness of the ancestors, those who can no longer paddle, those who watch from the beach, and young people who will carry it forward.

As a student of the Indigenous worldview of culture and language, Inez is committed to “serving the people” by upholding excellence in Quality healthcare.
